How to get notified of new issues? (OD-591)
Quin opened 4 years ago

Hello, me again.

Honestly, I love the project so much, and the support is great! I just have a few questions.

When creating an issue myself (say, a job that needs doing), if I assign someone, will they get notifications that they've been assigned and/or updates? Will I receive notifications if I am not assigned? Can these be auto-assigned, or does it have to be a manual process?

Also, with the service desk, is there a way to auto assign teams/groups instead of each user individually, so that it can get picked up on by many people and then assigned to someone who can resolve the issue?

    Thanks for using the product.

When an issue is created, all involved users will be added to the watcher list automatically to get notifications on issue updates and conversations. Involved users include issue submitter, assignee, mentioned users, and commenters etc. And they can select to unsubscribe from the issue later on.

For auto-assign to specified persons, yes it is possible, just edit service desk setting to config appropriate issue creation setting to set default value for issue assignees. You can also create another custom field say "issue reviewers" of type "Group", and then specify default value to a specific group. With custom issue field, there are many possibilities.

Forget to mention that if a group is assigned to an issue, all users in the group will be set to watching the issue.

So does assigning a group "bulk add" users, or will it be the whole group or none of the group (so individual users can't unsubscribe themselves)?

OneDev will bulk add all users in the group to watchers, and they can unsubscribe individually.

Okay, so that adds them to the Watch list. So it'll be up to them to remove themselves from the watch list or un/assign themselves to the task? Basically automatically say "hey, there's this job" to everyone in the Group, and then wait for one of them to pick it up?

Also, you can set up "Saved Queries" to get notified when it matches... image.png

@Quin452 yes, that is true. If you assign the issue to a group. All of them will be notified and some of them should react on it.

As @markkrj mentioned, for saved queries watch/unwatch, that will be useful if you are not involved in the issue, but still interested (or uninterested) in these issues.
