The latest version of the issue link interaction mode is not very user-friendly (OD-2317)
alion opened 10 months ago

Hi Robbin, After upgrading to the latest version, we noticed that the issue link interaction mode has changed to a dropdown link. This mode is not very convenient for users with multiple issue links. Please take a look at the image below: issue1.png

We have only created 3 issue links, but at a glance, it looks cluttered and overwhelming, making it difficult to select the one we want.

Based on this, I believe a better interaction approach would be to not place the options for creating new links and selecting existing ones within a dropdown button .

Instead, it should open a new dialog box . In this new dialog box:

  • The first row would allow users to select an issue link (with a search function).
  • Next to it, there would be a toggle switch for creating a new link .
  • When the toggle is activated, a form for creating a new issue would expand below.

Imagine that I’ve only created 3 issue links so far, but when creating new ones and selecting existing ones are mixed together, the dropdown will expand dramatically, making it difficult to choose. By implementing this new approach, we can minimize the selection difficulty caused by an excessive number of issue links.

Here’s my suggestion, and thank you for your contribution
