It is very cumbersome to always have to click Projects to select an active project.
Whenever going to non project-specific options (including issue settings, which may actually be project-specific, to add values to custom fields), one needs to leave the active project. Related to issue #1303 not being implemented.
This makes it difficult to go back to your project's issue board.
For example, from Administration/System settings, I need 4 clicks and 3 different pages to go back to issue board:
Projects
My project
Issues
Boards
If the last project stayed active, I would only need two clicks and only one page load (the board page) to go back to issue board.

This can make the sidebar pretty complex, you may just open two tabs to switch between projects and adminstration settings quickly.

I do not use tabs. I can open a new window, but this is really a major annoyance.
It's just about remembering the active project when going to the global options.
