#879  Adding user without password
Closed
wojtek opened 2 months ago

It would be convenient to provision user accounts without password (with option to send e-mail invitation to setup password)

(related to #877)

You may enable self-register in Administration / Security Setting. That will be more flexible.

Hmm, this is somewhat different to 'self sign up'. Sometimes owner of the 1dev may not want to allow completely open registration but would like to invite users without the need to create password for such user (which would have to be changed later on). In such workflow owner would simply add user (by entering email address) and 1dev would then send invitation to that email and user would be able to finalize the sign-up and set up the password.

@wojtek I agree. Not everyone in a company should be able to sign-up, thus I created users manually. I was surprised to provide placeholder passwords because it also means that I have to make sure people change their password after I handed out their credentials.

State changed as code fixing the issue is committed

Robin Shen commented 12 hours ago

This will be achieved via user invitation mechanism in 7.7.0.
