#592  Add card to any column
Closed
Quin opened 2 years ago

I was wondering if I can add new cards/issues to other columns apart from Open.

It seems if I want to create a new issue, I can either do it from the List view, or only in the Open column in Board view. I like using Board view.

The only issue I am facing is that I have several Boards for different areas. If I'm looking at Project Management, that is a separate board to Office Admin. Neither of these have the Open or Closed columns, as those columns would be very long.

Is it possible to simply create a card in a specified column? Optionally, change the Issue state? (the only way I can do this presently is by dragging and dropping in Board view).

This violates OneDev's issue transition assumption: OneDev always assumes issue to be in initial state and transit to other states may involve permission as well as custom field population.

So what you're saying is that I'll always have to have an Open column and then drag and drop them to other columns? Can issues even be moved to from column to column without using Open?

Is there a way to create additional Open columns, or will I be forced to have this single column on every Board, with hundreds of tasks (and no way to hide it)?

Okay, after some playing around, what I have working is instead of using "States", I've created a new custom field called "Sector". So I create the Board Columns using the Sector dropdown, and this allows me to add new issues to the column directly, and move them from column to column.

Yes, you can create custom column of enum type and create board columns based on it.
